THANK YOU ! to ALL the HARD CORE, FUN LOVIN', RAT RODDERS, HOT RODDER, GREASERS, CAR GUYS + GALS, and CRAZY + KOOL FOLKS that didn't believe the hype and ventured Outside during the " Hurricane", and had BLAST of a PARTY ! A soggy BLAST, but BLAST : WE DID ! Everyone that came out was having a great time !
About 200/300 cars showed up, and about 700/1000 folks hung out thru the day, digging the rides, bands and each other . The Bands, Vendors moved inside, that added a excitement and party atmosphere to the club ! The Rain held out until about 3 pm and then it got steadier thru the eve. 300/400 people packed the club and ; danced, laffed, drank, ate, dug the bands, art show and everyone's vibe ALL NIGHT ! The Awards went netter than usual, , having a captive audience helped ! Horray for ALL the Winners! watch the site and Myspace page for pics and more info on all the fun!
Of Course the Bands were GREAT! Thanks: WPRB, SHARKSKINS, TWEED SCHADE AND THE SUGARDADDIES, KENNY AND RAZORBACKS, BIG ONE MAN BAND, JET WESTON AND THE ATOMIC RANCH HANDS, ULTRAKINGS, JIMMY STILES AND PALS, DIBB PRESTON AND THE DETONATORS, HELL CAT GIRLS AND OF COURSE ; SUGARBALLS AND DEKE DICKERSON ! I was a ROCKIN affair, the house was shakin, the kids were dancin, the gals were swoonin, the guys were groovin, it was a wild, wild party ! Oh? Did YOU spend the day in the house being " scared " of the " Storm ? I've had the runs worse than that storm !
Naturally SUNDAY was BEAUTIFUL ! And a slew of slick steel came out to dig the HRHD ! About 600/700 cars, 1500/2000 people, Vendors, Bands and happy people wandered around getting more than an eyeful at every turn. Smiling faces and good humor was the order of the day ! The Bands were moved OUT SIDE to the SHOW LOT, , and it people loved it ! DJ MACK THOMAS kept the tunes and announcements going both days in the patio/bar, and is a great fellow and my pal ! THANKS! A number of SHOWCARS, DRAG CARS, and WILD KUSTOMS made it out on Sunday, but most of those that were slated to come did not make it . No One was complaining, as there are soo many homegrown kustoms and rod being created that it baffles my mind! The day was sunny, bright, and as nice of a sunday as you would want, THANKS to ALL |the KOOL CAR PEOPLE and FUN FOLKS that came out !
" The best laid plans of mice and men..".. and RAT FINKS ! It was bound to happen, the law of averages dictates that sooner or later the HRHD would have some BAD WEATHER ! Well; twice in 10 years + over a dozen shows is a good % ! Mother Nature has been very kind to the HRHD, it might be those pagan rituals ! However due to the weather, or more likely ; the "Hurricane Hysteria" ; a number of things didn't go off as planned.The DRIVE IN of course had to be canned. Thanks the SECRET CINEMA (.com) for being involved and such a curator of celluloid cinema . check his site for info on the ongoing film showings ! Any number of Featured, Show + Display Vehicles couldn't attend due to weather concerns. Only a few PINSTRIPERS made it ; JIM CARTIER ( THANKS for the SIGNS ! ) and the REV and NORTH SIDE TATTOO + HOTROD JEN were there and doing their thang! The Director of ; ALTERED BY ELVIS : also was unable to make the trip back from Pittsburgh in time to speak! RADIR WHEELS were unable to bring thier wild race cars down from the HQ this year ! and what ever other misshaps that are unavoidable when doing a shin dig as wacky as the HRHD ; I APOLOGIZE to you-all !
